Step Exercises

Obvious one this: lift my foot and put it on the little stop in front of me.

I hate this exercise as it’s really difficult still. One of the hard things about it is getting the foot back to a good start position after each step forward, with Hratch the slave-driver pushing me. Currently, if I start it wrong, it continues wrong. Guess this’ll change as I go on with it. Here he’s keeping quieter as I’ve got him concentrating on the camera.

The other guy is Kevan (yes, correct spelling). He asks lots of questions - which is great when I need a break or am feeling lazy, but not great when I’m working! And Liz, his long suffering wife, is holding the frame. I hope you’ll see more of him on his own page on this site.

I need to nail this exercise, as it’ll make walking easier, obviously. To make it work, I really have to connect with my thighs and think about what I'm doing. The good ones are the those where I’m concentrating and connecting to the muscles which need to respond, and it is good how I do feel those connections.

At the moment, there’s still a lot of stomach muscle to make the lift happen: everything I have has to work. But, my cynics, tensing my stomach alone won’t lift a leg! This one is also really helping to get the muscles just above my knees active. On certain exercises, such as working the legs in the harness, the muscles are reacting and pulling much further down and below the knee, which is all new and exciting. A good clip to start this exercise with, and more will follow.
